v1.4 — Live

New Pipeline, Effects, Filters & Looks

v1.4 rebuilds the rendering pipeline from scratch for faster, more consistent output across all effect types. It adds new effects, expanded filters, a larger Looks library, and closes the founding member pricing window — Ditther Pro moves to its standard rate.

What changed

Core improvement

Rebuilt rendering pipeline

The entire pixel processing pipeline was rewritten in v1.4. The new architecture processes all effects through a unified GPU-accelerated path, which means faster renders, more consistent results between effect types, and no more edge cases where switching effects caused filter values to drift. Export quality also improves — fine-detail effects like ASCII and Lattice now preserve sharp edges at full resolution.

New feature

Expanded filter set

New filter controls give you more control over how effects interact with your image. A Threshold slider controls which luminance values get treated as highlight vs shadow — useful for controlling density in halftone and dither effects. A Contrast boost before the pixel pass makes tonal structure more readable in complex images. Invert now works at the filter level rather than applying a raw CSS filter, producing cleaner results.

New feature

Expanded Looks library

The built-in Looks library grows significantly in v1.4, with new styles tuned for portrait, landscape, and abstract work. Each new Look is built with the updated pipeline, so it renders faster and more reliably. Looks now also store filter-level settings — Threshold, Contrast, Invert — not just effect type and colour grading.

Pricing update

Founding price closed

The founding member pricing period — available since v1.0 — officially closes with v1.4. Founding members keep their rate and all Pro features permanently. New subscriptions move to the standard Ditther Pro rate. If you signed up before the close, your price is locked for life.

Pipeline tip

The new Threshold filter is especially powerful with the Halftone effect on portrait photos. Raise it to 60–70% and you get a high-contrast poster look where only the darkest shadows render as dots.
